My name is Yael Sapir
I am an artist and a textile craftswoman and designer.
I graduated from the Shenkar School of Design, majoring in knitting and printing. I have many years of experience as a senior designer in the global textile industry, working for top clothing brands.
Textiles have always interested and intrigued me. I have been living and breathing textile since childhood, researching different textile techniques, connecting materials, and the interrelationship between materials.
Textile allows for a unique transition, between the two-dimensional and the three-dimensional, which fascinates me. It provides for an endless creative space.
The main idea in my work is the connection between nature, textile, and culture.
This nature-textile-culture composition isn’t a trivial one. And yet, it generates a sense of awe and enables contemplation and observation at an object - the leaf. An object that, while abundant in nature, is reincarnated by connecting it to other materials.
I want to inspire and honor the time to observe. To put nature on center stage and give it our full attention, embrace it and remind ourselves that every created object is unique and has a special place on this earth.
All my works are handmade and are ONE OF A KIND. Every work and its unique uniqueness.
